Product Details Weight: 1.10 kg
Mykovam is a microbiological soil amendment product that infuses beneficial fungi scientifically proven during research and in actual farming applications to improve a plant’s overall growth. The action of Mykovam is to increase the naturally-occurring vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in the root system of plants and trees. These fungi establish a symbiotic relationship with the plants where they exchange nutrients and chemicals essential for each organism’s survival. This helps in water and nutrient absorption, prevent pathogenic root infection, increased plant tolerance to drought and heavy metals.
It is a perfect addition to your gardening arsenal because most urban gardening soil and substrates do not have beneficial microbes similar to farm and forest conditions. Adding Mykovam to your potted plants or even the ones planted on garden soil will improve your plant’s overall health.
Mykovam can replace 60-85% of chemical fertilizer requirements of plants, and the benefits are continuous since the results are a the benefits of a symbiotic relationship.
Can be used for almost all types of plants except pines and dipterocarps, cabbages, petchay, mustasa and lowland rice.
Mykovam is made by Filipino scientists from the National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (BIOTECH).
Directions for use:
- Use half a teaspoonful of Mykovam for every plant.
- If the plant is already established on a pot or garden soil, dig a small hole 2-3 inches away from the plant base, put Mykovam in the hole, cover and water. Mykovam will seep into the roots and establish itself on the plants.
- If transplanting seedlings, add Mykovam at the bottom of the hole before putting the seedlings on the new pot or soil. Cover seedling base with soil and water as usual.
- Avoid direct sunlight or exposure to temperatures above 40 degrees celsius, it can affect the performance of Mykovam.
Mykovam is a soil-based bio fertilizer, which has effective species of fungi call vesicular arbuscular mycorrhiza (VAM). The fungi inoculates the roots, form a close association with the plant when inoculated to the seedlings and assists the plant in the absorption of water and nutrients. The fungi also prevent root infection by pathogens and increase plant tolerance to drought and heavy metals. A kilo of Mykovamcan fertilize 400 seedlings
Benefits:
Replaces about 60% to 85% of the plant’s chemical requirements
Improves soil properties and fertility
Promotes absorption of water and nutrients such as phosphorous, nitrogen and zinc
Environment friendly
Plants/tree species on which to apply Mykovam
· reforestation species (narra, acacia, kakawate, madre de agua, etc.)
· fruit trees (guava, rambutan, papaya, citrus, banana, lanzones, coffee, guyabano, coconut, mango, cacao, etc.)
· agricultural crops (upland rice, corn, tomato, eggplant, onion, garlic, pepper, cassava, sweet potato, etc.
How to use:
1. For seedlings grown in pots or containers, half fill the containers with the potting medium. Place 2.5 grams (about 1/2 teaspoon) of Mykovam at the center of the pot. Then fill again with the potting medium.
2. Use as a layer in germination box. Put Mykovam as a layer in the germination medium. Sow the seeds directly on top.
3. Use as soil in marcotting. Mykovam can be used as a replacment for soil in marcotting. The mychorrhizal fungi enhance root development.
4. For field application, apply Mykovam by hand under the furrows at a rate of 20 gms per linear meter prior to seedlings or transplanting.
For existing trees, punch 6 holes 1 meter around the base about 1″ diameter & 6 inches deep and put 1 tbsp of mykovam on each
Cannot be used in crops belonging to the crucifers/cabbage family (cabbage, pechay, mustard) and lowland rice.
